The DGA committee

Angela Hall has been Chair of the DGA since spring of 2023. She attends Tuesday sessions regularly, and enjoys painting natural landscapes, particularly trees, rocks and seashores. Angela coordinates the activities of the exhibition, marketing, membership and Tuesday programmes teams, chairing the regular committee meetings and the AGM.

Membership Secretary

Jane Anderson Wood, is a professional painter and teacher, best known for her watercolour landscapes, river scenes and estuary views inspired by the fleeting effects of light. Jane’s previous role as Chair of the DGA makes her ideally placed to be Membership Secretary, overseeing membership records and welcoming new members to the group.

Exhibiting Selection

Pauline Allbeury is secretary for the selection committee for exhibiting membership. Pauline is a painter of still life in oils and of botanical subjects in watercolour. She regularly attends the Tuesday DGA sessions. Pauline’s role on the committee is to arrange the Selection Committee meetings for exhibiting membership applicants. This takes place twice a year, in January and June. Pauline liaises with the applicants, giving any advice and information required. She  also organises the Art cards sales at the exhibitions.

Exhibition Secretary

Denise Doran is an oil painter, who enjoys plein air painting as well as still life painting, or interiors when painting indoors. She is particularly interested in capturing the effect of light as it falls on objects and prefers looking at a small part of a scene rather than an expansive view. Denise has been a member of the DGA and Exhibition Secretary since 2013. Her role involves project managing the exhibition alongside Gill Clark and John Hutchens.

Exhibition Manager

John has been painting full time since 2005 in oil, acrylic and watercolour. He is a prolific painter who paints outside in all weathers. He is enjoying reconnecting with the landscape around his home in Surrey, having spent the past 15 years painting mainly in Cornwall and the West Country. John's role with the DGA involves managing the logistics and curation of two large exhibitions per year, working closely with the Exhibition Secretary and Exhibition Project Manager.

John Hess has been painting, mostly in watercolour since the mid-90s. He finds painting enjoyable and relaxing; a welcome break from the world of private equity, which until 2019 was his day job. John is treasurer for the DGA. He processes our annual accounts and manages budgets for the various DGA activities, including exhibition sales.
